Aviation and Space Day celebration in Krumovo Air Base

On 11-12 April 2011 Bulgarian Air Force celebrated the International Day of Aviation and Space. The official program for the day included a series of events in several cities and towns in Bulgaria. Among them were Sofia, Plovdiv and Balchik.
On 11 April in Krumovo Helicopter Air Base which is located near-by Plovdiv, Gen. Konstantin Popov, Chief of Bulgarian Air Force HQs delivered a speech dedicated to the International Day of Human Space Flight. The event was also attended by Col. Zlatko Zlatev (Commander of Krumovo Helicopter Air Base), Eng. Ivan Totev (Regional Governor of Plovdiv), representatives the Technical University of Sofia – Plovdiv Branch, non-government organizations and Bulgarian Air Force veterans.

The program for the event featured demonstration flights with small aircraft such as M320 Agent, Sting 2000 and Cessna Cardinal II. The static display of aircraft included several types of helicopters in service with the Bulgarian Air Force. Among them are Cougar AS 532 AL and Bell 206 helicopters.
In the afternoon of the same day the Technical University in Plovdiv hosted a conference dedicated to aviation and space.
