Few hours ago today’s THUNDERBIRDS aviation show concluded at Graf Ignatievo AFB. It turned to be a real feast for the numerous aviation fans at all ages. There was a static display of weaponry and military aircraft from the Bulgarian Air force – MiG-29 and MiG-21bis fighters, AS 532 Cougar helicopter and С-27J Spartan transport aircraft. Parachutists from 68th Special forces brigade conducted jumps from the Antonov An-2 biplane. Official guests for the show were the defense minister of Bulgaria Mr Anu Angelov, the Bulgarian Air Force Chief Major General Konstantin, US Ambassador in Sofia James B. Warlick, Jr., military attaches, politicians.
Few minutes later the event continued with well trained ground procedures of the six pilots and twelve technicians.

Halve an hour later the air show started by the command of the team chief, transmitted on air - "Thunderbirds run em up!". The performance of the US air demonstration team was great but it was interrupted in hlf an hour by the heavy rain. The two solo aircraft landed, but the famous “DIAMOND” formation remained in the sky waiting for better conditions. And they were lucky as the sun showed up again and the formation of four F-16 Block 50 made some more spectacular maneuvers.

The visit of the THUNDERBIRDS marked the beginning of the celebrations next year for the 100th Anniversary of Bulgarian military aviation.
